SBI fees and rules that matter
The rate is only half the cost of a banking product. These are the charges and conditions from SBI’s own product terms that most change what you actually pay or receive:
Home loan
- Processing fee is 0.35% of the loan amount, subject to a minimum of ₹2,000 and a maximum of ₹10,000 (plus applicable GST).
- Women borrowers get a 0.05% interest concession on the applicable card rate.
- No prepayment or foreclosure charges are levied on floating-rate home loans.
- The rate is linked to the External Benchmark Lending Rate (EBLR) and resets when the RBI repo rate changes.
Personal loan
- Loan amount ranges from ₹25,000 to ₹35,00,000 under the Xpress Credit scheme.
- Processing fee is up to 1.5% of the loan amount (plus applicable GST).
- A foreclosure charge of 3% is levied on the prepaid amount for Xpress Credit loans.
- Maximum repayment tenure is up to 6 years (72 months).
Car loan
- Finances up to 90% of the on-road price of the vehicle.
- Processing fee is 0.40% of the loan amount, subject to a minimum of ₹1,000 and a maximum of ₹7,500 (plus GST).
- No prepayment or foreclosure charges are levied on car loans.
- Maximum repayment tenure is up to 7 years (84 months).
FD · 1 year
- Premature withdrawal penalty is 0.50% for deposits up to ₹5,00,000 and 1% for deposits above ₹5,00,000.
- Senior citizens earn an additional 0.50% over the applicable card rate.
- Minimum deposit is ₹1,000 with no upper limit.
- 5-year Tax Saving Scheme deposits qualify for deduction under Section 80C of the Income Tax Act.
RD · 1 year
- Minimum monthly instalment is ₹100, in multiples of ₹10 thereafter.
- Available for tenures ranging from 12 months to 120 months.
- Senior citizens earn an additional 0.50% over the applicable card rate.
- A penalty is levied on delayed monthly instalments, and the account may be closed after six consecutive missed deposits.
