HDFC fees and rules that matter

The rate is only half the cost of a banking product. These are the charges and conditions from HDFC’s own product terms that most change what you actually pay or receive:

Home loan

  • Processing fee is up to 0.50% of the loan amount, subject to a minimum of ₹3,300 (plus applicable taxes).
  • Adjustable-rate (floating) home loans carry no prepayment or foreclosure charges for individual borrowers.
  • Fixed-rate home loans attract a foreclosure charge of 2% on the outstanding principal.
  • The rate is benchmarked to the HDFC Bank Repo Rate and varies by loan amount and applicant profile.

Personal loan

  • Loan amount ranges from ₹50,000 to ₹40,00,000.
  • Processing fee is up to 2% of the loan amount, subject to a maximum of ₹6,500 (plus applicable taxes).
  • Prepayment is permitted after 12 EMIs; foreclosure charges are 4% of the principal (falling to 3% after 24 months and 2% after 36 months).
  • Repayment tenure ranges from 12 to 72 months.

Car loan

  • Finances up to 100% of the ex-showroom price on select models.
  • Processing fee ranges from ₹3,500 to ₹11,000 based on the loan amount (plus applicable taxes).
  • Foreclosure charges are 6% of the outstanding principal within the first year, reducing to 3% after 24 months.
  • Maximum repayment tenure is up to 7 years (84 months).

FD · 1 year

  • Premature withdrawal attracts a penalty of up to 1% below the rate applicable for the period the deposit stayed with the bank.
  • Senior citizens earn an additional 0.50% over the standard card rate.
  • Minimum deposit is ₹5,000 for a regular fixed deposit.
  • The 5-year Tax Saver FD qualifies for deduction under Section 80C and carries a mandatory lock-in period.

RD · 1 year

  • Minimum monthly instalment is ₹1,000, in multiples of ₹100 thereafter.
  • Available for tenures from 6 months to 120 months, in multiples of 3 months.
  • Senior citizens earn an additional 0.50% over the applicable card rate.
  • Premature closure is permitted; interest is paid for the completed period at the applicable rate after a 1% penalty.
